proud of my pa

my father was profiled for today's issue of the Lawrence Journal-World. an excellent article, and well-deserved for the work he's put in and the passion he exudes as a runner. he's headed to boston today for monday's marathon. i couldn't be prouder to be a son.

Congrats to you dad! I love that he has dreams and passions and pursues them with much intensity. Motiviation for many around him, I'm sure.

Reading your dad's story took me back to cheering my dad and uncle on in triathlons. The whole clan would turn out wearing matching shirts that read, "Faddis fan club."

Those are fond memories. Thanks for taking me back and good luck to your dad.

What a fantastic article! It brings back all the times your grandfather regaled me with the stories of Mickey Mantle coming to Lawrence, who he was delighted to hear was my boyhood hero. I will never forget the night before Mickey Mantle died, Char and I were at a golf tourney dinner at Alvamar with Al and Jean and in some strange way, I think we both knew Mantle was not going to make it. We sat there for a couple of hours and talked about him. In many ways your Dad becoming the runner that he has is the best tribute to the core athletic spirit of Mickey Mantle who as Al said, could have played any sport.
